2020 here we come…..

It’s that time of the year where we are switching into another calendar year! Does the world completely change because we are in a new year and a new decade? NO, but we could be the change we want to see.

Writing this for myself more then anything! I want 2020 to be the year I stand tall, stand proud, stand faithful! As cliche as it is to make goals to start the year that’s mine.

Do I want to do like most everyone and lose weight, yup. It won’t define my year though because we never know what wrench life will throw at us to mess that goal up. So I’m going to keep thinking about my word I mentioned in my previous post “Stand” and we shall see where that takes me this year! Happy New Year!

Stand

So I took this Day spring quiz the other day and my word for 2020 was stand! Which at the time I took it my brain went to meaning I needed to stand up for myself and my life and to make a stand at a better year then 2019! A friend reminded me the funny thing was that I literally need to “stand” in 2020, because since the summer I’ve been off my feet due to a severe ankle injury.

Which means not only should I stand for all that came to mind at first I will be actually standing more as my ankle was surgically repaired in November and I’m in therapy to get me back to normal life again soon. Funny how one person view of the same word can be totally different huh.

So I’ll be standing for many things in 2020 and they even sent me some great graphics to remind me of this so I’m sharing my favorite below.

Lil helper

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do y’all! I’ve heard all about how sensory play is good for kids, but don’t have the time or patience to clean up the messes it makes. So what do I do when I’m trying to cook and my kid wants to help? I give her Rice Krispies or another cereal and let her have some kitchen tools and let her go! She doesn’t ever want a regular bowl either, it has to be a mixing bowl and has to be big mixing spoon. Thankfully we have a dog so the mess gets cleaned up by the pups so there’s minimal mess when she’s done.

So this is my version of sensory play for the lil toddler and it makes her think she’s helping while I’m cooking and baking in the kitchen!

Merry Christmas!

Now that all the paper is torn and my kids are settling down I just wanted to jump to here and wish everyone Merry Christmas! I know at this point my followers are slim but I am trying to make a habit of when inspiration strikes I jump on and post something.

So I’m jumping on while the kids enjoy the last little bit of Christmas Day playing with their toys and gadgets to make a post. Remember to cherish the moments and the thoughtfulness of the season. I’ve always believed it’s not about the amount of gifts or the price spent, but the effort put behind it all! I truly loved the joy on my kids faces and the shock when my daughter got a book she’s been wishing for.

Honestly to me a homemade gift is more precious or a gift with meaning behind it, like an inside joke reminder by candy in your stocking. Remembering little details about people and bringing those into a gift idea is awesome too! I have a love of butterflies so anytime I get something with them I’m super excited!

Makes me think of the commercials and ideas that a women wants or need a new vacuum for Christmas when that’s usually the opposite lol. Anyways, I hope that everyone got a little something that made their hearts happy and enjoyed the day surrounded by love!

Let’s see the good!

Reasons and seasons

There’s a lot of sayings about people coming into your life, some about the amount of time, some the reasons why. All of them have a lot of realness and can tug at anyone who reads them. Because it’s all so true, we all have people who come and go from our lives. The reasons may not be clear at the time, or ever, but it happens.

I guess that not everyone is meant to stay in your life forever! It can be a hard pill to swallow especially when there are some people you’d never have imagined walking out of your life. Whether it’s a friendship, family members or someone else that may not fit into a category but had meaning in your life. Sometimes it’s revealed later in life as to why they aren’t there anymore or why they’d been in our lives. However, if we see the why is a whole other story as well.

I’ve personally lost friendships where they literally just stopped talking to me, no big fight, no conversations before hand as to why. Just plain and simple talking best friends one day to NOTHING the next! I can go over conversations in my head and not come up with any reasons why it would happen either. Especially because the timing of this “break up” was the worst for me. That’s how it goes though nothing happens at a good time always the worst.

It happened to me and a family member a long time ago. I can tell you almost to the date on that one the why and when that relationship shifted and it’s never been the same since. There’s been times I thought fences were on the way to being mended and then…..nope back to the same.

I write all this to say that even the shortest friendships can have the greatest impacts! Sometimes having someone walk in and out of your life even for a moment really can give you a new insight and a new look on life. I had it happen to me, I had an old friend come back in and then pretty quickly back out of my life. I keep telling myself there’s got to be a good reason and that possibly it was just to remember parts of me I’ve lost or pushed aside over time. I also try to analyze the conversations and overthink it all to possibly figure out the answer to why it happened that way, because that’s just how I am.

All of it always just brings my thoughts back to statements like “everything happens for a reason” or “it is what it is” and the quotes I mentioned already about how some people are meant to only be a part of your life for a day or a season or something like that.

We all have seasons of life and people and friendships we’d never expected to have, but I do truly believe that it’s for a reason. While the reason may not come to us right away, or ever, there’s always a reason! So try not to dwell to hard on it all and keep growing in life from these seasons and changes!

Find the square

So my toddler had a problem of being to close to the car door when I needed to get her loaded up. Plus she liked to run off a lot when not at home, so something had to give!!!

I’d seen magnets you could buy to give kids a “spot” to stand by car and nothing against those. I just didn’t have time or extra funds for a magnet. So looking at the car and where was best for her to stand I saw the gas cap door just above the tire. LIGHTBULB moment!!!!

I show my toddler the square and tell her I need you to put your hand here and wait for the door. It only took a couple times and now she automatically goes to “her square” and puts her hand there and waits. It’s amazing to see her little hand go there and for her wait for me to open the door!

Hopefully this idea helps someone else as it has me! Love finding ideas and tips to keep our littles safe!

iPhone password transfers!!!

This is epic!!! I just got a new iPhone bc my old wasn’t working well after a traffic fall! One of the worst parts was I tend to have auto fill on for passwords and didn’t want to have to manually type them all in on new phone. Someone said the new update had a way to do this easier and they were right! So real quick I’ll type out how to do this bc it was so much easier to do.

1. Have both phones or devices.

2. Go to settings on both phones, then down to passwords.

3. Make sure auto fill is turned on to new one or the transfer won’t work.

4. On old one you open websites & app passwords, then click the first one you want to transfer.

5. Now press and hold anywhere over the password or user name.

6. It will say copy or airdrop, click airdrop.

7. Then a window will pop up and it should show new device/phone. If it doesn’t you need to turn airdrop on in new phone. (General settings, then airdrop and you can turn on there).

8. Once you’ve found new phone click it and it’ll verify identity first time then for rest you send it should go through.

And that’s it!!!! Just like that all user names and passwords can be air dropped to new phone or device. Does still take time but not as long as typing them all and hoping keys get hit right.

I’ll post pics of first steps to find passwords but nothing more for my password safety! And yeah i had 70 stores passwords, so definitely glad i didn’t have to type all that info out again!

Always watching…

Y’all let me tell you it’s been a crazy two weeks and here I was thinking when 2/3 kids went back to school I may have some time to catch up on things! Boy was I wrong!!!!!! When your trying to catch up from anything it always seems like you take that 1 step forward and then 2 back, but I’m gonna keep going!!!!

So what I wanted to mention amidst all the chaos that has been, I’ve had a few moments make me slow down and say awe. One was the difference in people and companies and how crazy that difference can be sometimes! Crazy good and crazy bad, but it’s amazing to me how people act sometimes. That’s truly a convo for another day though.

What I was thinking about when I logged in to type was my littlest and how she’s been the epitome of how kids are always absorbing. She and I have had an adjustment to not having her sisters to play with her and it’s been hard. She’s so cute and has such a personality though. So the one day I finally tried to get a work out in and she whined because I took her tv to do this. However, as soon as my favorite Briana with BBM came on the screen lil bit ran to get her weights and do it with me. (Side note “her weights” are little 2 pounders I got for kid #2 who wanted to do the same but couldn’t use my 5 pounds, not trying to give my baby crazy muscles or nothing. They are more for pretend but still hurt when she drops them on my toe!!!) Baby girls 2 1/2 by the way and I’ve done these kinds of work outs since I was clear to work out after the pregnancy, so they are a usual thing for her to see and she gets more involved copying me all the time.

The second act of her proving she’s really paying attention when I think she’s not been was at church. We like to go to mass Saturday nights because it’s less crowded and usually a little more casual. Well, she’s usually just playing or coloring because to her all the talking isn’t for her. She started a while back singing one of the songs with us, but tonight she was praying the Hail Mary with us word for word!!! It’s not a long prayer but we always pray that at the beginning of mass. It was so cute to hear her little voice praying it!!! She also sang several more hymns with us today that she hasn’t normally done. Seriously, she was belting out one of the songs tonight that my older kids were looking at me in disbelief! They even thought how cute and amazing it was. We only hear these once a week y’all and I swear she never seems like she’s paying much attention. That just shows that she is paying attention and absorbing everything around her.

Start those good habits young, show them right from wrong from the beginning, they truly are always watching and absorbing and it’s freaking amazing!!!

No internet, No problem

So y’all I’m on day 4 of the internet being out at my house. The company keeps saying it’s fixed and then it’s clearly not! What’s a girl to do, seriously?!?!?

So I’ve used my phones data to check emails, FB and the whatever I deem important at the time. But my goodness I only have so much data and my cell signal also sucks bc we are somewhat outside of cell tower range. I feel like the most annoying part is that they keep telling me it’s fixed and it’s not. No data is coming through the line!!!!

This leaves me going crazy bc I only have so much access to things I need and things I want online. I should take this as a reprieve from all things digital, but I also feel like I’m losing my connection to the world. Silly I know, as the world will go on even if I can’t connect to it.

Oh and I totally have the 3 kids who are missing their gaming time hahaha. Instead of dwelling on this I did decide to walk away from my phone and attempts to connect. Instead I worked on some house cleaning and playing with the toddler (when she’s let me). I also decided to plug in my vinyl cutter and make some shirts that I had designed and never cut out.

I’m planning to continue using this lack of internet time to get to work on some projects and other things disconnected from the world!!! As I said the world goes on even if I can’t get connected to it lol!

Side note: there are several restaurants and public libraries around town that provided they weren’t using same internet company I would/may go to and use their free WiFi! I just don’t want to sit with my toddler for long at any of the places as she won’t be happy sitting still for long!
